My Favourite Film of All Time

Hi all,

I know I've discussed a few of my favourite films and also dedicated a few blog posts to my favourite TV series. But I haven't made one on my favourite film of all time! It does have a cat in it, very briefly, as I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear. No dragons though.

Aliens

It's a classic and I absolutely love it. I can watch it over and over and never get bored of it. The xenomorph has a brilliant design and I absolutely love seeing it every time. The introduction of a queen alien is great too! It was cool seeing how they reproduce and how quickly they can take over a small colony.

I didn't actually watch it until I was twenty, as I wasn't too keen on horror until then. I got into reading Stephen King books and that was my gateway into horror. Soon enough I was watching horror films and series and absolutely loving them. I bought all the Alien films at the time, along with Predator, because I really fell in love with the sci-fi horror genre. I started by watching all the Predator films, and then moved onto Alien.

I absolutely loved the first film and when I heard the second one was even better, I knew I would love it. Now I've watched it so many times that I've lost count! Of course I really liked seeing Jonesy in the beginning and I hope that he was looked after during the events of the film. At least this time he didn't have to face the Alien himself.

The Xenomorphs look amazing and I love seeing them on screen. I've now seen all the Alien films, and the crossover ones with Predator too. Each film is great in its own way but it can't beat Aliens in my opinion. I can watch it again and again and not get bored.

That's it for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading! See you next week.

My Favourite Fantasy Shows

Hi all!

It's been a while since I made a post like this so I thought I would finish off with my favourite fantasy shows! I've already written about my favourite sci-fi, horror and zombie shows so I think fantasy is a good one to end on.

The Umbrella Academy.

From the first episode I watched, I was hooked. I love the characters and the way they interact with each other. Klaus is definitely my favourite. I can't wait for the next series. The superpowers are all interesting as a lot of them I haven't actually seen before. The relationship between the siblings are great and I love how they deal with different situations.

Wednesday.

I heard other people raving about this one and knew I needed to give it a go. I loved every second of it and can't wait for the next series. The characters are great and I love all the different powers that the students have. The werewolves are my favourite. I can't wait to see some of the other pupils explored a bit more and how their powers work. Seeing Morticia and Gomez more would be a bonus as I loved their dynamic and how they interacted with each other.

The Witcher.

I love a good fantasy series that's filled with monsters. My favourite parts are the monster fights and seeing how Geralt uses his powers. I've only just started the second season but I'm really enjoying it so far and can't wait to see what happens next. As long as there's monsters, I'll be happy! It will be a surprise to no-one that my favourite episode was the one with the dragons, for obvious reason. I've considered picking up the books for this series but I'm not sure how I would like them as I don't really read that kind of fantasy.

His Dark Materials.

I absolutely loved this show! I read the books when I was younger and really wanted my own daemon. Of course it would have been a snow leopard. I think the show did a really good job of adapting parts of the books and I was hooked all the way through. Even though I knew how it would end it still made me cry. It was a brilliant trip down memory lane from when I read the books and I had forgotten how much I loved the series.

That's it for this week! Have you watched any of these shows? What did you think? Let me know in the comments. See you next Sunday.

My Favourite Horror Shows

Hi all,

With Halloween coming up I thought that this would be the perfect time to talk about my favourite horror shows. I've done lists for zombie shows and sci-fi and it's the perfect time of year for horror!

The Terror

This is one show that I couldn't binge watch as I had to wait for a new episode every week. But the wait was always worth it! The isolation and fear in this show is spot on. All of the characters are interesting and make you want to find out what's hunting them and if they'll ever get rescued.

Sweet Home

This one I found while randomly scrolling through Netflix one day. I thought it looked good so I decided to give it a go and haven't looked back since. The monsters are unique and have amazing designs and powers. I've been waiting so long for season two to drop and I can't wait to watch it!

Stranger Things

I absolutely love Stranger Things. The characters, the setting, the monsters, they're all amazing in my eyes. While I love all the monsters, my favourite has to be the one from season two, The Mind Flayer. I can't wait for the next season as I loved the last one, especially it's super long season finale.

Resident Evil

This only ran for one season before getting cancelled which really sucks. But I loved this show. Although the plot was a bit weird at times I still really enjoyed it. Just seeing the beginning of the virus and how it all ends up was amazing. All of the monsters were great and I really wish there had been another season just to at least try to wrap everything up.

That's it for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading! See you next week.

My Favourite Sci-Fi Shows

Hi all!

Back in July I made a blog post about my favourite zombie shows. This week I wanted to follow that up with my favourite sci-fi shows. I absolutely adore watching sci-fi and it's always a genre that I look out for when looking for new shows to watch. I won't talk about the plots too much as I think you should watch them yourself!

The Rain

This is such a fantastic series. The characters are brilliant and the way they react to the world is amazing. There are so many times where I've had to hold my breath while watching as I can't wait to see what happens! It also makes me a bit wary to go outside when it's wet...

Zoo

This series is weird but I love it. Animals start mutating in weird ways and it's up to a team to figure out why. I love the animals with their various mutations and how they set about curing it. Unfortunately this series was cancelled three seasons in, so there isn't an end to this one. Still, I think it's worth a watch.

Helix

I found this one by accident and thought I'd give it a shot. I don't regret anything. It centres on the outbreak of a disease in a facility in the Arctic. The disease begins to mutate the hosts and the scientists there have to find a way to stop it before it releases into the world. In the second season there's a new strain of the disease which is even more strange. Again, this series was cancelled but I loved watching every episode.

Doctor Who

A classic that I've been watching ever since of was revived in 2005. I grew up watching David Tennant battling against various aliens and saving the day. I still remember how much I cried when he regenerated into Matt Smith. But even today I still love the series and all the monsters in it. My favourite are the Weeping Angels. I've even watched Torchwood and a bit of The Sarah Jane Adventures. I can't wait for the next series and to see what new aliens the Doctor has to fight next.

That's it for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading! One day I'll post about my favourite fantasy and horror shows too. See you next week.

My Favourite Zombie Shows

Hi all!

This week I wanted to share a few of my favourite zombie shows with you. I absolutely love watching anything with zombies in it and it usually doesn't take long to get me hooked. I won’t talk too much about them as I don’t want to give too much away and I think you should watch them yourself! Take a look at what I love below...

iZombie

Such a great concept and I love all the characters. The plot is easy to follow and it has a few twists too! The mix of zombies and detective work is a really good combination and makes for a great watch.

Z Nation

A mix of zombies and comedy, this is one of my favourite zombie shows of all time. There are plenty of different types of zombies, and a few of the characters even turn into them as well. I love how absurd the show gets as time goes on and it's so entertaining.

All Of Us Are Dead

This is one of the newer ones I've watched and it didn't take long to get me hooked. The characters are trapped in a school, trying to fight their way out. The characters are great and I cried when the deaths started to pile up.

Kingdom

This is the most serious out of the four, but it does have a few moments of comedy. The setting is fantastic and the way the zombies come about is fascinating. One thing that sticks out to me is that these zombies can be killed by water, which isn't something I've come across before.

As far as I know you can watch all of these on Netflix and I highly recommend that you do! They're all loads of fun and so easy to binge. They all have several seasons too, which is great if you want to watch them all in one go. Whenever there are new zombie shows out in the future, you can bet that I'll be checking them out.

That's it for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading. See you next week.
